Thomas
G. Tingle, AIA
President

of Architecture, Cum Laude, 1980.
Mr. Tingle’s twenty-six years of experience
have included responsibility for virtually all phases of architectural
projects, from feasibility analysis and programming to specification
writing and construction administration. Prior to his association with
Guernsey/Tingle Architects, he worked for other mid-size and large
architectural/engineering firms in the Hampton Roads, Virginia area.
He was project manager for larger commercial, governmental, and multi-family
residential projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic states.
Mr. Tingle’s work has been featured in Custom Home Magazine,
Inform Magazine, Virginia Record Magazine, Tidewater Virginian Magazine,
Better Homes and Gardens’ Home Plan Ideas Magazine, Mid-Atlantic
Country Magazine, and Portfolio, as well as newspapers in Norfolk, Newport
News, Williamsburg, and Richmond, Virginia.
Mr. Tingle serves as professional consultant to the Fawn Lake Architectural
Standards Committee in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and The Albemarle Plantation
Architectural Review Committee in Hertford, North Carolina.
In addition to his design of many of the firm’s commercial, recreational,
institutional, and residential projects, he oversees Guernsey/Tingle’s
production management and quality control. He is a member of the Hampton
Roads Chapter, American Institute of Architects, and has taken part in
the AIA’s Professional Development Program through participation
in energy design, life safety code, and ADA education workshops.
Mr. Tingle currently serves as President of
Virginians for High Speed Rail, and as a Director for Chesapeake Bank.
He also serves on Chesapeake Bank’s Loan Committee and Peninsula Advisory Board, and is also a director of the James City County Economic Development Authority. He is the past
president of the Williamsburg Area Chamber of Commerce, and former treasurer
and chair of the Chamber’s Business Development Division. Mr. Tingle
serves on the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army of Williamsburg as
past chair, and as a Director of Housing Partnerships, Inc., of Williamsburg,
as well. He is past Chairman of the Williamsburg Chamber’s Economic
Progress Committee and past Treasurer of the Board of Directors of Charterhouse
School in Richmond. Mr. Tingle is also a member of the Hampton Roads Association for Commercial
Real Estate.

Andrew F. Cronan, AIA
Vice President
Registration: Virginia
Education: University of Arizona College of Architecture, Bachelor
of Architecture, 1976. Magna Cum Laude, Ranked First in Class, Henry
Adams Fund Award Scholar, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
Mr. Cronan’s twenty-eight years of experience
have included responsibility for all phases of practice, and have included
a five year period of being principal of his own firm, as well as time
as an associate and project manager in mid-sized architectural firms in
Tidewater and Richmond, Virginia. Since merging his practice with Guernsey/Tingle
Architects, Mr. Cronan has carried on many of the same duties as he did
previously, but with the backing and resources of the merged entity.
He is currently working with church, recreational, residential, and commercial
clients on projects at various stages of development.

Gary S. Bowling
Vice President

Before joining Guernsey/Tingle Architects,
Mr. Bowling worked for two major mid-Atlantic residential builder/developers.
He has acquired extensive experience as chief designer and architectural
services director in charge of new designs and documents of single
family and multifamily homes. Mr. Bowling also brings twenty-one years
of experience in civil engineering, structural engineering, and surveying.
He has completed college courses in computer aided drafting and advanced
land surveying, and has attended seminars pertaining to erosion and
sediment control, storm water management, and computer HVAC design.
Mr. Bowling’s broad range of experience
allows him to manage a project from site planning and schematic design
through construction administration.
Mr. Bowling has received two first place
awards from the Consulting Engineers Council of Virginia’s Drafting Competition. He is a member
of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, a member of the Peninsula
Housing and Builders’ Assocation, and a recent graduate of the
Leadership Historic Triangle of Williamsburg.
At Guernsey/Tingle Architects, Mr. Bowling
serves as vice president and project manager for many of the firm’s recreational, residential,
and commercial projects. He also works extensively with several of the
firm’s planned community clients, including Ford’s Colony,
Stonehouse, The Governor’s Land in Williamsburg, Albemarle
Plantation in North Carolina, and Maple Ridge in Blacksburg, Virginia.
