The Cove Café at Williamsburg Landing

Spacer
As an existing independent living facility, Williamsburg Landing desired a dining option for their residents that would offer both a casual dining experience and a traditional dining room option. As an infill to the existing internal courtyard, natural light enters the space through surrounding clerestory windows and a large central cupola. Finishes were selected to enhance the dining experience through the use of transitional fixtures and furnishings.

Since 1995, GuernseyTingle has provided design services ranging from interior finish replacements to major expansion feasibility studies. One of the significant renovations included the 150-seat Banquet Room, with a warming kitchen, serving area, outdoor terrace for tented functions, and relocation of the main pro shop. In 1996, we completed the conversion of a little-used dining room into a member’s grill, complete with new entrance and support facilities.

The new facility is designed to take advantage of its siting, with a view towards a lake and forest through a south-facing window wall, shaded by a canopy. Heavy timber framing, clerestory lighting and fabric canopies in the informal dining space recall the architecture of the existing formal dining room, and the nautical traditions of the Northern Neck of Virginia.
