Unleashing the Wolf: A New Chapter for a Busch Gardens Classic

A ribbon-cutting ceremony, a DJ dance party, and a high-energy crowd marked the grand opening of The Big Bad Wolf: The Wolf’s Revenge at Busch Gardens Williamsburg on May 23, 2025—and GuernseyTingle was proud to be there to celebrate.

Our Themed Entertainment team, led by Rich Smith, handled the architecture and art direction for this highly anticipated attraction. The project continues our longstanding collaboration with Busch Gardens and other parks across the country. From SeaWorld to Sesame Place, we’re honored to help bring stories to life through immersive, story-driven environments.
While The Wolf’s Revenge isn’t a direct sequel to the original Big Bad Wolf coaster, it builds on the ride’s legacy with a darker, more immersive tone. Guests enter through the repurposed Drachen Fire station, where the story begins: the Wolf has returned, and the bells are ringing again. Once on the ride, the narrative transforms guests into the wolf, racing through the village, past Das Festhaus, evading capture, and barely escaping the grasp of angry townspeople once more.

One of the key design elements is a 100-year-old bell installed beside the ride. According to Smith, it’s meant to be rung by attendants before each ride dispatch as a signal the Wolf has been spotted. If they miss the cue, no problem—the in-ride audio reinforces the moment with the sound of bells woven into the experience.
Throughout the queue and ride path, the GuernseyTingle team paid careful attention to visual storytelling. Boarded windows, weathered structures, and signs of damage reflect the Wolf’s impact and help create an environment that feels lived-in, urgent, and connected to the narrative.
The opening day crowd included coaster enthusiasts, vloggers, and members of Scouting America—known as “Wolf Scouts”—who were among the first to ride. The American Coaster Enthusiasts also hosted their 2025 Spring Conference at the park, adding to the excitement and buzz around the launch. Attractions Magazine was on hand for that event, and Smith treated readers to a thrilling and informative on-ride POV interview available on the publication’s YouTube channel.
Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing The Wolf’s Revenge to life. At GuernseyTingle, we’re proud to be part of projects that combine architecture, storytelling, and entertainment to create unforgettable guest experiences.
