Peninsula Veterinary Clinic

Project Overview

  • Designed to keep the emergency hospital operating full-time
  • A new design was able to modify an outdated structure
  • State-of-the-art facility offers a variety of specialty practices

When a veterinary practice was ready to expand their offerings, we were able to make practical recommendations and seamlessly integrate the new hospital space.

Founded in the early 1980s, Peninsula Veterinary Associates has had decades of growth and success. To continue that growth, they identified the need to offer a broader range of services by catering to the special cases or procedures they had previously been referring to specialty practices or veterinary colleges elsewhere. GuernseyTingle was their partner at the table as they made plans to open a state-of-the-art referral hospital, equipped to offer specialties in surgery, internal medicine, oncology, cardiology, dentistry, ophthalmology and radiology.

We recommended to the client that a physical connection to the current emergency hospital would be the most efficient option, offering the ability to share functional spaces such as animal wards, isolation and X-ray. The new design modified an outdated structure and connected to it in a seamless manner via unified architectural elements, while still maintaining the identities of the separate functions within. Inside the new referral hospital, the light-filled waiting and reception areas were designed to emphasize the advanced level of medicine offered.

Designed and phased to keep the existing emergency hospital operating full-time, the 8,000 sq. ft. expansion and 1,500 sq. ft. renovation was executed with little inconvenience to patients and medical staff.
