Amanda Running, AIA, Principal at GuernseyTingle, was named a 2024 NextGen Award winner by CoVaBIZ Magazine. This esteemed recognition celebrates emerging leaders under 40 who are making a significant impact in Coastal Virginia through professional excellence and community involvement.

Running joined GuernseyTingle in 2011 and has distinguished herself as a dynamic leader and innovative architect. She has been instrumental in shaping the firm’s portfolio, overseeing transformative projects that enhance communities while prioritizing sustainability and functional design.

Partnering with municipalities on public safety projects is one of Running’s design passions, creating fire stations and EMS facilities that best serve those who serve the community. She played a key role in designing the Williamsburg Fire Station, a project that has garnered multiple industry awards and recognition since opening in 2024.

Running’s other notable recent projects include Hampton Fire Station 3, Newport News Fire Station 11, Chesterfield County Fire Stations 25 and 5, and New Realm Brewing Company’s newest location in Suffolk, VA.

Beyond her professional work, Running is a dedicated advocate for young architects, actively involved in initiatives that promote diversity and inclusion in the field. She has also volunteered with organizations focused on affordable housing, youth development and other causes across the region such as Fisher House in Richmond and the Skalak Memorial.
