DBIA Hardhat Tour Spotlights Construction Progress at Greater Williamsburg Sports and Event Center

On August 6, 2025, GuernseyTingle joined the DBIA Mid-Atlantic Showcase & Hardhat Tour of the Greater Williamsburg Sports and Event Center, providing attendees a firsthand look at the project now approximately 65% complete.

A Milestone in Progress

During the tour, visitors walked through active construction zones and observed major structural elements coming together. The scope of the 200,000 square foot building is becoming clear: twelve basketball courts convertible into volleyball or pickleball layouts, retractable turf for full-size field functionality, climbing walls and versatile hospitality and event space.

This facility is more than a sports complex. It is designed to serve the wider region by hosting state and national competitions while also meeting local recreational needs.

Partnership & Vision in Action

In addition to providing a construction update, the Hardhat Tour was a moment to showcase how collaboration is shaping the facility’s future. GuernseyTingle stood alongside project partners including MEB, Clark Nexsen, Timmons, and local governments in York County, James City County, and the City of Williamsburg.

The DBIA event provided a unique forum for design, construction and stakeholder teams to share insights, align expectations and deepen understanding of systems, materials and logistics moving forward.

Looking Ahead

With the building more than halfway to completion, attention is shifting toward interior finishes, systems integration and site work. The facility remains on target for opening in 2026.
