DLA Building Renovations Boost Public Safety and Transform Emergency Services Facility
GuernseyTingle has vast experience serving the public safety facility design needs of communities and government entities of all sizes. Many areas of the firm’s expertise were brought to bear for the recently completed renovation of the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Building 201 at Defense Supply Center Richmond (DSCR).
Located in Chesterfield, Virginia, DSCR is the headquarters of DLA Aviation and home to a variety of other DLA, Department of Defense and federal organizations. Partnering closely with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Norfolk District, GuernseyTingle provided architectural, interiors, and engineering services in support of the major renovation of the Building 201 emergency services facility.
The project included a roof replacement, full mechanical and electrical equipment and lighting replacement, all new carpet and paint, firemen’s kitchen renovation, shower and locker room renovations, new fire apparatus bay doors and numerous other engineering and interior design features.
The GuernseyTingle team recently conducted a site visit to check on the progress of the extensive renovation and remodeling activities. Upon completion, the newly modernized facility will provide a more comfortable living and working environment for DLA personnel while also enhancing their ability to respond to emergencies and keep fellow DSCR workers safe.
