GuernseyTingle Board Chair Kristin Baum, AIA, Recognized with 2024 Women in Business Achievement Award by Inside Business
GuernseyTingle Principal and Board Chair Kristin Baum, AIA, was among 15 female business leaders from across Hampton Roads honored with an Inside Business 2024 Women in Business achievement award. The annual awards program hosted by The Virginian-Pilot celebrates women who have been successful in their businesses and careers, contribute to the community, and serve as an example to others.
A 23-year veteran of GuernseyTingle, Baum became a Vice President in 2015 and was named Chairman of the Board earlier this year. She is a recognizable leader in the professional community, having also earned a 2024 Women in Leadership Award from Virginia Business in July. In 2019, Baum was also a recipient of the Greater Williamsburg Business Council’s “15 Under 50” Award in its inaugural year.
Baum manages a wide variety of projects at GuernseyTingle, including high-end custom residential, hospitality and recreation facilities, and the renovation and reuse of historic buildings. A tireless advocate for employees, she also manages recruiting, staffing and human resource policies, among other internal responsibilities.
Her influence extends beyond her professional achievements. Baum is deeply committed to mentoring women in architecture, encouraging the next generation of leaders in a field where women are underrepresented. Her community involvement includes advocating for sustainable design practices and engaging with organizations that support economic development in Virginia.
Baum’s architectural design work has received numerous awards, including a Hampton Roads Association for Commercial Real Estate (HRACRE) Award of Merit in Sustainable Design for the Williamsburg Municipal Building Expansion and Renovation, and a HRACRE Award of Excellence, Best Renovated or Best Historic Renovation, for the DoG Street Pub.
With Baum serving as Vice President at GuernseyTingle, the company was named among the Best Architecture Firms in the Eastern Region by Virginia Living magazine three years in a row, and one of the Best Places to Work in Virginia by Virginia Business magazine for three of the last four years.
