GuernseyTingle Earns SWaM Certification as Woman-Owned Business
GuernseyTingle has earned SWaM (Small, Women-owned, and Minority-owned Business) certification as a Woman-owned Business by Virginia’s Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity. The firm had previously held the Small Business designation and is now recognized as both a Small and Woman-owned Business throughout the Commonwealth. This certification reinforces GuernseyTingle’s commitment to creating a diverse and empowering workforce, further strengthening its presence and impact across the region.
The Woman-owned Business status is a significant milestone for GuernseyTingle. Four of the firm’s seven principals are women, and the company board is currently chaired by Kristin Baum, AIA, LEED AP, who was honored with a 2024 Women in Leadership award from Virginia Business magazine earlier this year.
“Earning the Woman-owned Business certification aligns with the values our firm was built upon and celebrates as part of our legacy,” said Baum. “Throughout the 40-year history of our firm, we have focused on empowerment, inclusion, and making positive impacts in our community.”
Baum and the rest of the leadership team embrace the five pillars of GuernseyTingle’s success – the colleagues, clients, contractors, consultants, and community who have been integral to the firm’s values, vision, and longevity. The additional SWaM designation exemplifies GuernseyTingle’s true commitment to fostering the growth and advancement of their colleagues, more commonly referred to as the “GT family”. All of the firm’s team members share a dedication to the local community, supporting and serving in leadership roles for multiple charitable organizations.
The firm looks forward to further expanding its role within Virginia’s business ecosystem with the SWaM certification, opening new opportunities for partnerships and projects that champion inclusivity.
