GuernseyTingle Receives Two Honors at 2025 HRACRE Excellence in Development Design Awards

GuernseyTingle received two Awards of Merit at the 2025 Hampton Roads Association for Commercial Real Estate (HRACRE) Excellence in Development Design Awards, held recently in Norfolk. The honors celebrate the firm’s continued commitment to creating exceptional spaces that serve communities across the region.

The Hampton Virginia Aquaplex was recognized in HRACRE’s Best Recreation/Entertainment/Hospitality Project award category. As the largest competitive aquatic center in Virginia, the Aquaplex is a transformative facility for Hampton Roads, supporting regional and national competitions while offering high-quality recreational amenities for the community. Previously the facility earned a National Award of Merit in the Civic/Assembly category from the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) and an Award of Merit in the Sports/Entertainment category from Engineering News-Record MidAtlantic.

In addition to GuernseyTingle, the Hampton Virginia Aquaplex design-build project team included Clancy & Theys Construction Company, Water Technology, Inc., B2E Consulting Engineers, P.C., GET Solutions, Inc., Speight, Marshall & Francis, Kimley-Horn and TAM Consultants, Inc.

The Williamsburg Fire Station Replacement earned an Award of Merit in HRACRE’s Best Institutional/Public Building award category. The new facility, designed in collaboration with Stewart-Cooper-Newell Architects, provides state-of-the-art resources for first responders and was recently honored with a national design award from Firehouse Magazine.

Project partners on the Williamsburg Fire Station Replacement included David A. Nice Builders, Inc. and Stewart-Cooper-Newell Architects, as well as TAM Consultants, Inc., Thompson Consulting Engineers, and VHB.

The HRACRE Excellence in Development Design Awards program highlights outstanding commercial real estate projects that demonstrate excellence in development, architecture, and construction throughout the Hampton Roads region.

GuernseyTingle is a frequent recipient of HRACRE awards. In 2022, the firm received an Award of Merit in the Best Restaurant/Eatery/Bar category for design work at illy Caffè in Williamsburg’s Merchants Square.

At the 2021 HRACRE awards, GuernseyTingle received three honors including the coveted Juror’s Choice Award and an Award of Excellence for its design role in a $3 million top-to-bottom renovation of The Estate at Kingsmill. The firm was also recognized for its design work at Kiln Creek’s NEST Kitchen & Taphouse, receiving an Award of Merit for Best Recreation/Entertainment/Hospitality Project.
