GuernseyTingle was the design partner for the LO/CR Maintenance Facility, a design-build project contracted by Langley Air Force Base. The hangar serves as a high-tech paint booth to support the technical coatings of the F-22 Aircraft.

By designing around a high-efficiency make-up air paint booth, we were able to deliver a 59% energy savings, which was achieved through a substantial reduction in the required size of the HVAC equipment to condition fresh air. Because these facilities are a significant energy user at Langley, the performance improvements and corresponding reduction in energy costs were a big contributor to the project success. The project was also produced in Revit.
