Makayla Bellamy
Architectural Designer
“As architects, we get to use our creativity to create not only beautiful spaces but ones that are impactful. You can become an integral part of how someone lives out their life.”
Makayla joined GuernseyTingle in late 2023 following her work for Charlottesville-based Candace M.P. Smith Architect where she served in roles of increasing responsibility, including project manager. Her design projects included new residential construction and additions, as well as women’s clinics built in Haiti.
Born in California and raised in Hampton, Virginia, Makayla went on to the University of Virginia, earning a Bachelor of Science in Architecture. At UVA, she participated in the National Organization of Minority Architecture Students (NOMAS) and Living Stones, the Architecture School’s Bible Study program, among other activities. Earlier, Makayla volunteered at the United Way, supporting their Day of Caring initiatives as a project coordinator for five years.
Since joining GuernseyTingle, Makayla has served on a variety of project teams, from residential to houses of worship and more, enjoying the interactivity she gets to experience across the firm’s diverse team. She especially appreciates how architecture enables one to connect with people and their feelings, making an impact on their life.
