Downtown Hampton Amenity Implementation Strategy Project Earns HRACRE Award
GuernseyTingle was part of a team honored at the 2024 Hampton Roads Association for Commercial Real Estate (HRACRE) Excellence in Development Design Awards Program, earning recognition for work supporting the Downtown Hampton Revitalization Planning initiatives.
At the ceremony, the Downtown Hampton Amenity Implementation Strategy Project received an Award of Merit for Best Conceptual Project, with a design team led by WPL, GuernseyTingle and Kimley-Horn. GuernseyTingle provided visioning and implementation planning services in support of the project, which seeks to transform downtown Hampton into a vibrant mixed-use small city to visit, live, work and play. Presentations and renderings conveyed how placemaking can bring different cultural experiences, music, and events, while immersing visitors in the rich history of the area.
The design team worked in close collaboration with the Downtown Hampton Development Partnership (DHDP) and the City of Hampton itself.
The award is the latest in a series of recognition that GuernseyTingle has received from HRACRE. In 2022, the firm received an Award of Merit in the Best Restaurant/Eatery/Bar category for design work at illy Caffè in Williamsburg’s Merchants Square.
At the 2021 HRACRE awards, GuernseyTingle received three honors including the coveted Juror’s Choice Award and an Award of Excellence for its design role in a $3 million top-to-bottom renovation of The Estate at Kingsmill. GuernseyTingle was also recognized that year for its design work at Kiln Creek’s NEST Kitchen & Taphouse, receiving an Award of Merit for Best Recreation/Entertainment/Hospitality Project.
