Creating the theme of an old country store and butcher shop is part of the experience our client wanted to achieve for their customers.
Our client, Smithfield, desired a new corporate presence that spoke to the company’s rich heritage in a welcoming, homespun environment.
The exterior of the building features tumbled brick, expansive showcase windows, bracketed standing seam metal awnings, and a covered recessed dining area. Display windows to a long side alley give customers views to a unique mural that was commissioned for the wall of the building across the alley, which tells the history of the brand.
The interior space takes you back to an old country store, with coffered copper ceilings and the use of period-correct schoolhouse light fixtures. Casework throughout was constructed of stained bead board and white marble tops that hearken back to a turn-of-the-century butcher shop. Distressed wood flooring continues through the retail space and into an informal dining area themed more towards a ham aging smokehouse than a modern retail space.
